The China-Europe PIFI Seminar on Spintronics and Magnonics International Academic Forum on Spin Physics and Devices was held at Hubei University on the morning of May 11. Nearly 80 experts from China and Europe gathered at the shore of Shahu Lake to discuss the latest advances and future trends in the field of spin physics and devices.

The event brought together leading experts from China and Europe, including Academician Stuart Parkin, Director of the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics, Academician Burkard Hillebrands from Technische Universität Kaiserslautern, and Han Xiufeng, Research Fellow of the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOP, CAS) and Foreign Member of the European Academy of Sciences. Representatives from the Bureau of International Cooperation of the CAS and the Foreign Cooperation Division of Hubei Provincial Department of Science and Technology also took part in the forum. Liu Jianping, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hubei University Committee and President of Hubei University attended the event. Liu Zhihong, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hubei University Committee and Vice President of Hubei University, presided over the opening ceremony.

Liu Jianping extended a warm welcome to the experts, scholars, and guests from home and abroad and expressed gratitude to the IOP, CAS, for co-organizing the forum. He introduced Hubei University's recent achievements in advancing emerging and interdisciplinary disciplines and promoting research in spin and magnetism. Liu noted that spintronics and magnetism are evolving from fundamental exploration to industrial empowerment and have become an important driver of national innovation capacity. He emphasized that Hubei University will actively implement the national strategic deployment for strengthening basic research, further integrate into the global innovation network, deepen international exchanges and cooperation in fundamental research, and promote the establishment of a long-term and stable China-Europe cooperation mechanism. Through these efforts, Hubei University aims to advance research on key scientific issues and contribute to building China into a country strong in science and technology while promoting global scientific and technological innovation.

On behalf of the IOP, CAS, Han Xiufeng congratulated the forum on its opening. He expressed the hope that the event would serve as a high-level international academic exchange platform, facilitating in-depth communication and cooperation among Chinese and European scholars. He also called for coordinated development of fundamental and applied research in spintronics and magnonics to better support major national strategic needs and China-Europe scientific and technological cooperation.
